The

was established in 2008 to offer an art education to working adults.

Many of the students live out of state and study by correspondence. The correspondence program is achieved via an online curriculum consisting of detailed assignments, visual aids, and occasional video demonstrations.

Local students are able to attend demonstrations and workshops in person.

Faculty currently consists of artist J. Kirk Richards, but will hopefully be added to with time. Support and feedback from faculty and a network of fellow students assist each art student in his or her progress.

Each student is offered:

• A unique curriculum combining elements of classical training with modern techniques.

• Students learn to work from life, from memory, from photos, and from imagination.

• Students learn drawing and painting fundamentals, as well as principles of composition and design.

• Each student receives regular feedback on their projects. Also, Kirk is available at any time during the week to answer questions by phone or email.

• Students have access to regular art demonstrations, whether in person or via the internet.

• Students learn art business practices and learn to build their own websites.

• Class size is small. Click here to inquire about enrolling.

Student responsibilities and tuition:

• Tuition is $200 per month, due on the first of each month. Pay tuition here.

• Students are expected to progress at their own pace. While the curriculum is planned on a monthly basis, students should feel free to move faster or slower based on their own schedules. Students must make progress by consistently working on projects. (Even if your month is super busy, we want you to spend at least SOME time working on your art projects. We want our students to get good at making art.)

• Students are expected to participate by giving feedback to other students and submitting work and comments for the website.

• Long distance students must be able to send quality images (scans or professional-quality photographs) of their work by email.
